Ganzhou Rare Earth and Tungsten Industry Come to its Best Time

    Rare earth and Tungsten resources are important strategic resources to the nation, and the development and utilization of the rare earth and tungsten directly influence the economic construction and national defense of China. The rare earth and tungsten resources of Ganzhou are critical in China, with the reputation of Rare Earth Kingdom and World Tungsten Capital. On March 29th, the responsible person from Ganzhou Industry and Information Technology Committee said during an interview “recently years, the central government has enhanced the support to Ganzhou. It’s the best time for rare earth and tungsten industry for us now”.

    The person expressed “Ganzhou has a long history in exploiting and utilizing the rare earth and tungsten resources, with over 100-year tungsten exploitation history and over 40-year rare earth exploitation history. In recently years, Ganzhou has transformed its development mode, changed the extensive economic development mode which focus on exploitation in the past, improved the intensive and high efficiency utilization of the rare earth, tungsten and other mineral resources and strengthened the deep and post-processing industry to achieve the fast development of rare earth and tungsten industry. The rare earth and tungsten industry of Ganzhou has formed the complete industrial system including geological exploration, mine exploitation, metallurgical processing, advanced materials and application, technique research and development, education training etc. Ganzhou is now the important national production base for rare earth oxide and rear earth metal, resources comprehensive utilization base and main production area and distribution center of tungsten product metallurgic processing”.

    The person is confident on the development prospect of the rare earth and tungsten industry of Ganzhou. He expressed “according to the policy of promoting the integration and reorganization of key industry enterprises, Ganzhou is speeding up the integration and reorganization of rare earth industry and tungsten industry, establishing the big enterprise group, improving the industrial concentration, extending the industry chain, improving the technology innovation level, producing the high value-added deep processing and application product, guiding all production factors gather to the big enterprise and deep process field and establishing the national important advanced material industry base. In June 2012, the State Council has issued the Several Opinions on Supporting the Vitalization and Development of South Jiangxi Province, the original Central Soviet Base Area, and has exactly stated that the government will support Ganzhou on establishing the rear earth industry base and rare earth industry-education-research cooperation innovation demonstration base, building the big rare earth enterprise group, researching and supporting to establish the ionic  rare earth and tungsten engineering(technique) research center and the ionic rare earth strategic resources reserve base in south of China, studying and demonstrating to set up the rare metal future trading center”.
